Screening for Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that the manuscript is entirely their own work before submission and has been checked for plagiarism. If there are quotations from other references, proper citation and paraphrasing techniques must be used, following the citation style required in the writing guidelines or article template. For the title, abstract, and English-language articles, grammar and spelling should be checked according to the respective language. Manuscripts submitted to IRAJTMA will be reviewed and checked for plagiarism using a plagiarism and paraphrasing detector, with a maximum similarity score of 30%. Below are some recommended plagiarism, paraphrasing, and grammar check tools to help improve your manuscript.
Here are some tips to avoid plagiarism:
- If using someone else's idea, cite the source.
- If using someone else's phrase or sentence, cite the source.
- Use quotation marks ("...") when the original phrase or sentence is copied verbatim – direct quotation.
- Quotation marks are not needed if the phrase or sentence has been modified without changing its meaning (paraphrase) – indirect quotation.
- Paraphrasing without citing the source is plagiarism.
- Avoid self-plagiarism, which occurs when an author reuses parts of their own previously published work without citing the prior publication.
